The Rockwell Theatre will host a very special tribute, Tina Schouw’s “Billie Holiday Show”, on Friday 20th May 2016.
Billie Holiday is a legend. She had a real zest for life as a performer. She could make you fall in love, she could break your heart. A lot of what she did ended up breaking her heart, that was her life. There was no other person like her. BILLIE HOLIDAY WAS A SINGLE EDITION.
Join Tina Schouw and her quintet once again as she takes you on a musical journey of the life and times of one of the world`s greatest singers. Tina chronicles the life of the singer and through the songs, she tells of the legend that inspired so many singers to stay true to the essence of what a song is really about.
She performs Billie’s exquisite repertoire, featuring the well loved tunes, “God bless the child”, “Good Morning Heartache”, “Love for sale”, “My Man”, “Strange fruit” and “Don`t Explain”, a poignant composition penned by the legend herself. She is accompanied by Andrew Lilley on piano, Wesley Rustin on bass, Gavin Minter on saxophone and Maurice Gawronsky on drums.
